Overview:

Southfield is situated in Luton’s Lewsey Farm area.  It is a popular two-form entry primary school with its own nursery.  We believe that education is a partnership between home and school and we hope to strengthen links with parents as their children move through our school, enabling them to develop and realise their full potential as part of the Southfield family.  Core values are promoted through all aspects of school life.  Values such as respect, independence, resilience, tolerance, and kindness form part of our values programme.  We are part of the Pioneer Learning Trust and work closely with and alongside the other 2 schools in the Trust.

Our dedicated staff team are committed to ensuring that all our pupils share their enthusiasm for learning and our values are reflected in all aspects of school life. We provide support for our children and families with our Pastoral Support Team of Learning Mentors and Family Workers.

Our curriculum has been developed with experiential learning at the heart of our planning, fulfilling our claim that Southfield is ‘where learning comes to life.’  Children study the National Curriculum in full through an integrated, topic based approach using wow-factors to engage children minds and excite them about the learning to come.  Talk for writing complements our curriculum and provides a ‘library of stories’ for children to draw upon in their own writing.

As part of the West Area Partnership Southfield works closely with the other schools across the partnership to develop behaviour support across our partnership as well as provision of training for our staff steams.  Southfield also works with its other partners such as The Luton First Teaching School Alliance and Shire Foundation (ITT Provider), to develop staff expertise for the benefit of our pupils.

As a values based school, Southfield values each individual for the unique strengths and qualities they bring to our school community.  We celebrate the diversity of the community we serve and reflect this in the activities we support and engage in.
